Soleil’s practice is a monastic art practice rooted in God, Love,Truth, and Meditation. Her works are artifacts of her spiritual, therapeutic, and inspiration processes. Some of her works communicate tools and inspiration for other people’s journeys of Self-Realization and Being.

Soleil’s love for music influences the composition and chromatics of her art. Each work stands alone, and is practice for the next. She integrates writing, graffiti, acrylic, gouache, watercolor, water, sentimal items from her personal archive and found materials to articulate insight.

As a child, Soleil’s happy place was school, playing outside with her friends, music, journaling, dancing, swimming with her cousins, and in her bedroom where she collaged found materials and graffitied her walls. While studying Race & Ethnicity at Columbia University (BA 2014), Soleil’s childhood pastimes blossomed into a robust visual and musical World Building practice.

After graduation, she exhibited in arenas including the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Kinfolk 94. After 9 years of interdisciplinary practice, Soleil refocused on Simple Living, “my days unfold through Being. A day lived is the juice and my studio sessions are the squeeze. The love, pain, and inspiration from life is so wonderful to me! Painting meditatively, colorfully, and tactually gifts me with something I can see and hold and keep. My practice is apart of my inner spiritual world and it is deeply personal. Painting is my monochannel output. I live life and remember it by giving it physical form. I dialogue with my heart and use paint to record the conversation. I also love collaboration! Dance, Film Art, Photo Art, and Music have special places in my life and I engage with them through collaboration in the natural seasons that they flow into my daily routine. Art gives me peace and presence as I integrate and articluate the mystery and complexity of being a spirit having a human experience ...and life itself!”

Soleil begins her MFA at the LeRoy E. Hoffberger School of Painting at MICA in September 2024.
